LANDMARKS

Troyan Stavropigial Monastery "Bogorodichno" is the third largest in Bulgaria, located picturesquely on the banks of the river Cherni Osam near the village of Oreshak, 10 km from Troyan. It was founded around 1600 (Abbot Kalistrat), possibly before that. The legend speaks of two monks from Mount Athos and a third monk, also from St. Forest, which brings the sanctuary of the monastery, the miraculous icon of the Mother of God Troeruchitsa, a copy of the old miraculous icon in the Hilendar Monastery (14th century).
The National Exhibition of Arts and Crafts - Oreshak village, Troyan municipality is the only one in the country where the exhibition halls show unique objects of folk arts and crafts, made by Bulgarian masters from all ethnographic regions of our country. The exhibition organizes temporary thematic exhibitions and demonstrations of various folk arts and crafts.
The Natural History Museum of the village of Cherni Osam is located in the village of Cherni Osam, located on the northern slopes of the Central Stara Planina, on both banks of the Cherni Osam River. The village was founded 300 years ago by freedom-loving and rebellious Bulgarians. Preserving its aspiration for national independence, it became a stronghold of Bulgarianness. More than once the Apostle of Freedom Vasil Levski has found refuge here. In the museum you will find a rich exposition of stuffed animal species, representatives of the fauna in the Central Stara Planina: mammals, birds, reptiles, insects.
